Ban Gestation Crates for Pregnant Pigs

Ontario could take a leadership rôle by being the first province in Canada to ban gestation crates (also called sow stalls) for pregnant pigs. Most breeding pigs are kept in crates that are barely bigger than the animal itself. They cannot turn around or lie down comfortably. They stand on concrete floors that are slatted to allow their waste to fall through to a pool of sewage below. They spend the four months of ...more »

End Ontario's Breed Bans. Remove The "Breed Specific" Language

Thousands of innocent family dogs have been victimized. Thousands of responsible owners have been & are unjustly & unfairly profiled! Ontarians want fair & effective legislation that improves public safety and reduces dog bites, not a ban pushed forward against all evidence and professional recommendations. Institute breed NEUTRAL laws that will remove the focus on a dogs appearance ...more »

Increase Ontario 400-series Highway Speed Limit to 120-130 km/h

Ontario has THE LOWEST speed limit in North America! Our speed limit was 112 km/h (70MPH) forty years ago! Now, with much safer cars, it is 100 km/h (62MPH). http://www.stop100.ca We want to legally drive at 120-130 km/h just like the citizens of over 60 jurisdictions world-wide, including the USA and EU. Countries and states that post 120-130 km/h on speed limits signs do not see a carnage, but smoothly flowing roads! ...more »

Limit executives pay in companies with underfunded pensions

The Ontario Pension Benefits Act allows companies to pay executive bonuses and dividends even if the pension is underfunded. Given a choice of bonuses for themselves or a fully funded pension how do you think the decision would go? The regulations should be changed to significantly limit or eliminate executive bonuses and dividends until the pension plan is fully funded. Mentioned below, but if you disagree with ...more »

MPPs should make detailed expense claims public

MPPs should be required to publicly list all of their expense claims, just as Elizabeth May is doing at the federal level on her web site. All receipts can be seen online. If she can do it so can all MPPs and MPs.

Ban Gay Conversion Therapy for Minors

A teenager comes out to his family and his parents spend the night yelling, crying and blaming their child for being gay. They take their child to a “doctor” that claims he can make their child straight. This teenager is enrolled in a Gay Conversion Therapy program against his will and constantly told that he is immoral and evil. He will experience shame, depression, anxiety, and suicidal thoughts. No matter how much ...more »

Choice in dying

I suggest a panel of informed people be given a limited period to consult citizens about end of life choices for dying and report to Cabinet at the end of this period. I suggest 3 months and 9 locations. The panel to consist of those free from any prior conflict of interest as in doctrinal allegiance to ant-euthanasia dogma or financial conflict as in investments in nursing home and private elder care for profit.

Recreational Marijuana - Tax it!

We should be allowing recreational marijuana and taxing it like alcohol, as it is safer and less addictive than alcohol or tobacco. We should also be removing our primitive laws on marijuana and putting the enforcement money into addiction programs for harsh drugs, health care and education. WAKE UP ONTARIO!!

Retiring as an Educator Means Being Retired

Unemployment is way too high, and there are far too many new/young teachers in the group. Similarly, many Pension Plans (including the Teachers' Fund) are on an unsustainable path and will need to be modified through a combination of higher premiums, lower benefits, and/or higher retirement ages. To help with all of the above, retired teachers should not be offered; nor be allowed to accept any part-time position, full-time ...more »

Keep our hospitals public

Keep our hospitals non-profit public instead of for-profit private. We don't want the American system where people who are forced to sell their homes due to illness.

Don't allow consortiums to own, run or decide who to hire.

Don't change the system, improve the system.

Since the Great Lakes Region is the third largest economic region in the world, and since the Great Lakes have serious nutrient related threats(including blue-green algae in Lake Erie), the Province of Ontario should establish a priority environmental/resource management policy related to clean up and enhancement of the Great Lakes(which make up 20% of the world's fresh water and provides drinking water for approximately ...more »
