Ombudsman Oversight in MUSH Sector

In an effort to be transparent and in light of various tragedies that have occurred, there needs to be an independent investigation process when complaints are made within this sector.

It is now the 21st century and Ontario remains to be the only province where this is not an option.

Ontario needs a Police Ombudsman

We are the "Affected Families of Police Homicide" who want greater control over the police in this province. Over the past two decades the police of Ontario have become more powerful in their own world. The Special Investigations Unit is not and has never been a true civilian oversight body and it needs its own act to do its job most effectively. The number of deaths in Ontario by police is mounting up.....deaths of ...more »

The Absolute Need for Transparency and Accountability

We must be very cautious how much authority and power we allow the state, corporations and other powerful organizations & agencies to exercise over our daily lives. Police officers are only supposed to have enough power to protect public safety - not to be prosepctor judge and jury. taking away a license for more than 24 hours is punitive for someone ...more »

Police Positive Reinforcement

These "citations" could be good for a free donut at Tim Hortons. It would be cheap, show police are not always responding to "bad" situations and will help break down barriers with the humour invoked by giving out donuts. This may also help ...more »

Re-install photo radar on highways

Bob Rae installed photo radar on provincial highways to catch speeding vehicles, as a more efficient means of catching individuals who were breaking the law (tough on crime) compared to the use of Ontario Provincial Police officers. Mike Harris removed them.

Prohibit tinted car windows

Tinted windows decrease the capacity to identify drivers of vehicles in potential crime cases. Quebec apparently vigorously enforce tinted windows regulations.

Create a Northern Ontario Police Force

Create a Northern Ontario Police Force that will police the First Nations Communities and remove the burden from the RCMP and OPP.

Employ these officers from the Northern Ontario Communities and from First Nations Settlements. This will decrease assualts on police from First Nations, and decrease the over-representation of FIrst Nations in the prision system. This will also create jobs for the FN population.
