Improvement to our Pallative Care System

Ingratiation of All Aspects of Palliative Care: Why not have a entire floor or a wing in every hospital dedicate to only people who require palliative care. Why should those patents be moved to a different hospital to receive Palliative care. Should there not be more than 10 beds for palliative care patients in a city of over 175,000. Not everyone has the options of dying at home. 90% of the patients prefer to... more »

Vacation Policy

it surprises me that most developed countries workers are entitled to 4 weeks vacation min no matter how long you worked for a company All EU countries including Germany, UK, France all highly advanced economies all richer than Canada guarantee 4 weeks vacation. Australia a country very similar to Canada also guarantees 4 weeks.. why is Ontario behind? These economies did not run into the abyss after implementing these... more »

Funding for Mental Health

Mental health services are chronically underfunded - many people with mental health care needs are NOT able to access services unless they can afford to pay high fees in the private sector. Early recognition, access to treatment, and supports for people before their concerns become crises (or mental health concerns escalate) are necessary to support a healthy Ontario.

More funding for special education.

With teachers being physically hurt and classmates having to endure violent outbursts the time has come to either review the old funding model or maybe remove the repeat offenders if there is not resources available to help them.

Make Organ Donation Universal with opt-out system

Right now, people in Canada have to register as organ donors to be recognized as a donor.
Ontario should move to an opt-out system. The evidence is clear - people are patiently waiting for organs and tissues which could significantly improve lives but many are let down by our current system. There is correlation between countries having a donor opt-out system and having a higher number of organ donations. In "opt-out"... more »

Seniors Healthcare Strategy

The Government of Ontario should develop a comprehensive action plan in consultation with patients, practitioners, hospital administrators, policy makers and advisory groups like Health Quality Ontario to realistically address our aging population's healthcare needs.

Taxing of Pensions

Government must improve regulations of Senior living as it pertains to Senior Care. As a senior, I would be frightened to have to go into a Senior Care facility as they are simply not regulated properly and some simply slip through the cracks as far as humane care. We therefore must improve at home care where feasible for the elderly. As well, in regard to taxing of CPP etc, I believe taxing of pensions based on a... more »

Ban GMO Food

Ontario and Canada should follow the route of Europe where GMO foods are banned and we should start with GMO labeling and to also ban Monsanto products so that Canada can have fresh food free of biotechnology and cross-breeding and pesticides and herbicides. This is the best path to get the best quality products and so people can be truly healthy. Another important step for Ontario to follow is getting away from big box... more »

ELIMINATE SULPHIDES AND PHOSPHATES IN OUR FOOD.

These preservatives can change the markers in white blood cells, causing them to start attacking each other(this may devolve into leukemia). It is suspected that while the immune system battles with itself many cancers can emerge and flourish that may have been held in check. Please remove these DEADLY DANGERS FROM OUR FOOD.It appears in every supermarket in prepared foods and salad bars, bacon, hams sausages and all cold... more »

Disease prevention must become a priority. It remains the missing piece of Tommy Douglas' vision for healthcare.

Currently we have a "illness" driven system of healthcare. I would like to see a prevention focus in Ontario.
Suggestion: Establish a "Ministry of Chronic Disease Prevention." This includes both mental health and addictions and physical disease prevention and would bring together the most analytical minds across the province to evolve prevention approaches. This would set our province apart not only here in Canada but... more »

Mental Health Ontario - MHO

I'm hearing that people know there are mental health services available in Ontario, but don't know how to access them or where to begin. We should create a governmental agency called Mental Health Ontario, a one-stop shop for access to care for key mental health services similar to Cancer Care Ontario. This agency would be responsible to drive continuos improvement in prevention, recognition of risk, mental health screening,... more »

Recovering health

We will enable the long-term life quality benefits of funding treatments received at home or in community such as vaccinations which protect against major diseases (e.g., pneumonia shots and newer shingles vaccines), and physiotherapy, massage therapy, chiropraxis, and some dental procedures which protect against heart disease.
We will improve the quality of compassion and authorization of effective rehabilitative services... more »

Build More Hospitals

The Province of Ontario needs to build more hospitals - particularly in the Greater Toronto Area which is currently experiencing explosive population growth - to deal with the overcrowding crisis.

The City of Toronto alone brings in over 100,000 newcomers each and every year in addition to natural population growth.
No other municipality in Canada has such ongoing and sustained population growth.

Expanding O.H.I.P. coverage to include facial feminization & full breast augmentation to disabled poor trans women on O.D.S.P.

When I first wrote this I had high thoughts that Canada was far different, far more compassionate towards the downtrodden than our American cousins - I was dreadfully wrong.

I wrote this after seeing so many trans women become forced to enter the sex trade, many either dying at the hands of johns, pimps, or by their own hands.

Worse were those who are disabled, where no employer would hire them due to their own internal... more »
