Stop the plastic problem!

Enact legislation and regulations that limit or eliminate single-use plastic and ensure that even recyclable plastic does not end up in our beautiful lakes, rivers and oceans. Companies need to recognize and promote alternative products and we as consumers need to limit use of plastic that is destroying the mother earth!

TTC

The PC plan to take over Transit in Toronto is aGood Idea. I dont know what they feel should happen, but heres what I think.

STREETCARS need to go as they are not practical and are more costly compared to buses. They travel slower and are restricted in maneuverability. Im sure everyone who has used a Streetcar has had an experience where they have almost been hit by a car or witnessed this for someone else; even with... more »

Go train east

How does the GO train stop in Oshawa. The routes north and west are way longer. Thousands drive in from Cobourg and port hope every day because there is only one Via rail in the morning that gets downtown around 10am. That’s not working hours. The people to the east are severely short in their GO service compared to the rest of the Greater GTA.

Extend the GO Train Service Line from Milton to Cambridge

The highway 401 corridor across the Cambridge area has become one of the most dangerous sections of the highway in Ontario. The TransCanada highway has been closed several times in recent months due to serious accidents. This is very dangerous for our citizens of this province and has a significant negative impact on our economy. An expanded two way GO Rail Service through Toronto, Mississauga and Cambridge would significantly... more »

A New GTA

It is very clear that a new regional government is needed for the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) for area wide coordination and planning purposes.

In the past local municipal democracy was disregarded by the former Ontario Conservative government of Mike Harris by the forced amalgamation of Metropolitan Toronto. This created a "one size fits all" approach that is improper in a large and diverse metropolitan area. The Harris... more »

MAKING HOME OWNERSHIP A REALITY

People dream of owning a home, but in Ontario’s big cities, especially Toronto and Ottawa, the dream of home ownership is out of reach for many people. Houses should be places for people to build a life and raise their families, not for greedy speculation - which
is one of the main things which is driving up home prices.

The Government of Ontario will help home buyers by clamping down on land speculation and property... more »

Consolfate Lower Tier and Upper Tier Goverments

Currently in Ontario most municipalities are comprised of a local or lower tier goverment and a Regional/County or Upper Teir goverment with each goverment providing services to citizens. Combining them into one single teir, done properly should bring most cost effective services and less overall goverment.

Build the Highway 400-404 Link

South Simcoe County and northern York Region are rapidly growing, and traffic problems are only getting worse. We need to design, fund and build the long-awaited Highway 400-404 Link, formerly called the Bradford Bypass. This 16-kilometre highway would connect the Highway 404 extension north of Queensville Sideroad in East Gwillimbury to Highway 400 north of the 8th Line in Bradford.

This is a vital piece of infrastructure... more »

Tougher Provincial Gun Control

While gun control in Canada is largely regulated by the Government of Canada by way of the Criminal Code of Canada -
I believe that the Province of Ontario could and should be doing more to curb gun violence which is on the rise in this province.

No one can legislate human folly. But if we can take action to prevent such events, we should, even with the limited tools accorded to the provinces where criminal justice is... more »

Permit municipal gas tax for public transit

Montréal, Vancouver and Victoria impose 3¢/L, 17¢/L and 3.5¢/L municipal excise taxes on gasoline, respectively, to fund public transit. This results in more compact land use (resulting in lower cost to provide government services), makes active transportation and public transit more competitive, reduce the pressure to use fares, sales, income or property taxes to fund transportation, and reduce air and noise pollution... more »

National East-West Energy Grid to address long term energy and global warming

Ontario has no long term plan for what will happen once existing nuclear plants no longer can operate as they reach the end of their lifespans - solar and wind need some sort of additional power given their intermittent nature and there is no simple way of storing electricity without large losses.

Over time our economy is likely to become more reliant on electricity as we wind down fossil fuels - the only other likely... more »

Improving Air Connectivity in Ontario

Air transport in Ontario faces unique challenges due to our geography and the range of flights available. In order to compete with other regions of Canada,
air connectivity must be improved in Ontario. Otherwise, business users and leisure travellers will face additional costs or fewer services.

The Government of Ontario should:

• Support the reduction or abolition of air passenger duties for flights within Ontario.... more »

Teaching good behaviour

I have an important observation and some sound advice: In quite a few constituencies, the nomination contest gets sickening with a focus on finding contestant's faults. Generally speaking, people want to rise by pulling down others which is not a fair game - those who pull down others are weak candidates and they can not win on their own strength. I strongly suggest that the Liberal Party should first teach the contestants... more »

Transit

Connecting all of Ontario with high speed rail system. Make it easier to get from city to city. This will get people out of their cars and alleviate traffic on our highways.

Cities should also be connecting their own transit systems to make travel easier to get from city to city and to our rural communities.
