A Culture of Health

The Ontario Liberal Party is committed to building a healthy society that provides the care people need and promotes healthy living at all ages. We have built our health-care system back up and we are now focused on making the system even better by improving access to care, enhancing the patient experience and expanding access to prescription drugs. As we move forward with an ambitious plan to build a healthier society, we need your best ideas about how to improve the patient experience and encourage the people of Ontario to live healthy lives.

Funding for Mental Health

Mental health services are chronically underfunded - many people with mental health care needs are NOT able to access services unless they can afford to pay high fees in the private sector. Early recognition, access to treatment, and supports for people before their concerns become crises (or mental health concerns escalate) are necessary to support a healthy Ontario.

Free dental cleaning for Seniors

Offer one free dental cleaning for seniors. Dental care is often sacrficed by seniors on fixed income. They no longer have dental coverage after leaving the workplace upon retirement. One small step towards fairness and help for our seniors.

Make Organ Donation Universal with opt-out system

Right now, people in Canada have to register as organ donors to be recognized as a donor. Ontario should move to an opt-out system. The evidence is clear - people are patiently waiting for organs and tissues which could significantly improve lives but many are let down by our current system. There is correlation between countries having a donor opt-out system and having a higher number of organ donations. In "opt-out" ...more »

More funding for special education.

With teachers being physically hurt and classmates having to endure violent outbursts the time has come to either review the old funding model or maybe remove the repeat offenders if there is not resources available to help them.

Increase funding for dental care

The current publicly funded dental care programs need to be more robust with basic, denture care and preventive dental care covered in the OW Adult program. Dental programs should pay the providers enough to at least cover expenses. Investing in properly funded dental programs with essential services covered will improve oral health, decrease barriers to dental care, and decrease health care spending on costly ER visits ...more »
