If we can design a home very similar to retirement homes for disabled loved ones and caregivers it would open many doors for caregivers. Allow landlords to increase rent 2-5% above inflation. Strict rent control in Ontario is discouraging land owners and developers from maintaining quality units for tenants. Tenants are discouraged from moving without losing their rent controlled apartment, creating toxic relationships between tenants and landlords. The result is less affordable housing, and housing in poor repair for low income Ontarians.
