Stop Religious Discrimination in Ontario Public Schools

If Ontario honestly wants to be an inclusive and just society, our school system must stop discriminating based on a faith.

Public elementary Catholic schools in Ontario deny admission to non-Catholics. Public Catholic schools deny teaching opportunities to non-Catholics based solely on faith. These are unacceptable and completely contrary to the expectation of an inclusive society.

Mandatory Voting

I don't know all the statistics on if it's a good idea or bad. I just feel that it's all our civic duty to vote.

Those who say that there's no one they want to vote for; well how about the party and their ideas? Can you vote for that?

As well, there's always the option to "decline to vote". Go to your polling station and say you decline. The polling officer marks that down and you're done. At least doing this allows... more »

Responsive Government

Hang Portraits of the Queen

The role of the Crown is both legal and practical; it functions in Ontario in the same way it does in all of Canada's other provinces, being the centre of a constitutional construct in which the institutions of government acting under the sovereign's authority share the power of the whole. It is thus the foundation of the executive, legislative, and judicial branches of the province's government.

Institute a Maximum Income Tax in Ontario

In Ontario, and more broadly in Canada, there is one group of people who are viewed as not paying their fair share of the staggering costs of government. This group is labeled and discriminated against in many ways, especially economically but also morally. These Ontarians pay their way more than five times over, yet are still told they do not pay enough. This minority group is targeted by governments and lobby groups,... more »

Inclusive Growth

Encourage Investment and Spending to grow economy - Tax lazy capital

Investment and Spending are the engines of economic activity. Capital that is idle for more than one year beyond certain thresholds to be taxed at a 2% -2.5% rate. Individuals and corporations would be encouraged to invest or spend into the Ontario economy and create jobs and spur economic growth & create wealth.

Aiir Ship RetIurn

I feel we should adjust regulations around the use of hydrogen and helium ... in airships to enhance transportation in the north where there are fewer roads to enable access to remote communities like reserves ...
With reduced shipping from ice roads In the added expense of airplane travel With limited cargo space. Airships are a reasonable response but are prevented from being developed due to regulations that are outdated... more »

Unleash the human potential of aboriginal people

I have thought for some time of how our aboriginal people have been offered and have accepted bad deals. Treaties were signed before aboriginals could truly understand the importance of individual rights and freedoms and also the incredible value of being a full participant in a modern society. Stuck in the poverty trap of the reservation system, many of these people produce little and consume much. it is a soul-destroying... more »

Strong Sustainable Communities

Improvement of highway 174

Highway 174 east of Ottawa was dumped by the province to the city many years ago. Still today both are fighting to see who will take responsibility for the rehabilitation of the road.

Residents are the ones suffering from the lack of a proper road and consequently very fre businesses have set grounds in Orleans.

In the meantime the city continues to approve residential developments bringing more and more residents... more »

Affordable Cost of Living

Eliminate Property Taxes

Let's get rid of property taxes and replace them with a mix of increased income and sales taxes which would be more progressive, fairer and less divisive.

Currently the main source of municipal revenue is property taxes. This presents a lot of problems, both for the city and it's residents. First of all, property taxes hit seniors hardest! Just because you own a valuable piece of property does not mean you are well... more »

Lifelong Learning

Make French Immersion Programming Fully Available To Bilingual Families

Under the French Languages Act, it states that individuals who speak French have the right to also learn in French. But what happens when a child has one parent who speaks French, and one who speaks English? Should those children not have the right to learn in both French and English? French Immersion programs offer this ability, but many have limited spots with the majority of spots going to English only speaking families.... more »
