Transit

Connecting all of Ontario with high speed rail system. Make it easier to get from city to city. This will get people out of their cars and alleviate traffic on our highways.

Cities should also be connecting their own transit systems to make travel easier to get from city to city and to our rural communities.

Fixing Ontario Energy Surplus Problem

Currently the Province of Ontario spent over 6 billion sending the surplus of energy Ontario generates to the United States. Although the development and use of renewable sources of energy are important such as wind and solar. Given the increased cost of electricity and the surplus of energy Ontario has this problem needs to be fixed. Technology and infrastructure should be invested in and developed in order to help... more »

Single-occupant vehicles in rush hour

Mandate that all transit routes that carry above 10,000 people per day operate in a dedicated right-of-way. The plague of single occupant vehicles is real, and is crippling our cities. The plague of single occupant vehicles is the single biggest contributor to: terribly slow commutes, congestion, pollution, waste of space.

Allow Cities To Toll There Roads

Residents of cities should be allowed to vote on the issue of tolling highways/expressways in there cities.

The economists at the C.D. Howe Institute argue road tolls are the best solution to reducing congestion and the additional revenue is a bonus that can be used to improve transit and other infrastructure.

A previous Conference Board of Canada report showed Ontario drivers pay between 70 to 90 per cent of the cost... more »

Educate to Build One Humanity

Thank you Ontario; you welcomed me. This post is for you! My life in the old country qualifies me to say that diversity can either be a boon or a curse. It enriches if people can see their common thread enabling celebration of mutual differences in its light. Otherwise, it is a curse of strong “us” vs “them” identities eternally jostling, conflicting and even rioting. We can’t close our eyes; news are full of it. Fearful... more »

Kitchener-Guelph GO Transit Rail Shuttle

GO Transit should implement a frequent, all-day, rail-based service that connects Kitchener GO in Waterloo Region to Guelph GO. This idea would enable connectivity between two rapidly growing regions, supporting job growth, sustainable development, and the movement of people.

This idea could be feasible based on the following:
- Metrolinx already owns the tracks between Kitchener and Guelph
- Stations already exist... more »

Clear Signs for Electric Vehicle Charging

To lessen people's fear of Range Anxiety the citizens of Ontario need to be able to find places to charge their cars.

Electric Car Charging needs to be more visible.

The gov't of Ontario should promote a standard\consistent Sign (Image, Font, Colour) that identifies where you can charge your electric vehicle.

Note: Commercial chargers could still market their brand but they'd need to display or include this Sign... more »

#communityeconomics Act

Thank you for taking the time to read about an economic model we refer to as “Community Economics”.

Community Enterprise Network Inc. proposes passage of a "Community Economy Act". This act supports a specific economic model or system whereby certain public sector production, resource extraction and regulated businesses are developed and owned by “communities” for the purpose of producing goods and services that benefit... more »

Establish A Global Fund for Climate Research and Development

Climate Change is a real threat to the globe, in the present and progressively worsening unless we act. However, the popular approach, low-carbon based economy, proposed by the Paris Treaty is quite failing and falling short of the task at hand. An alternative approach based on Research and Development is far more effective with no side effects, to the contrary this approach is stimulating to the economy as it opens doors... more »

Allow Municipalities to set minimum wage.

https://www.fraserinstitute.org/studies/uneven-recovery-much-of-ontario-still-hasnt-fully-recovered-from-the-2008-recession

As can be seen by the Fraser Institute urban areas haven't recovered from the 2008 recession. This might have to do with the cost of minimum wage. The cost of living in Toronto is not the same as Kitchener. Neither is it the same in Windsor nor Owen Sound. Smaller business in small towns cannot... more »

Smarter and Safer Highways

Smart highways and smart roads are terms for a number of different proposals to incorporate technologies into roads for generating solar energy, for improving the operation of autonomous cars, for lighting, and for monitoring the condition of roads.
One item that should be added to roads is photovoltaic pavement. This is a form of pavement that generates electricity by collecting solar power with photovoltaics. A variant... more »

Charge Nestle and Bottle Water Distributers More

Water rates need to be updated for bottled water companies. Right now, companies like Nestlé pay just $2.25 to take a million litres of groundwater -- and they're allowed to withdraw unlimited amounts of precious water to sell at a huge profit.

The cruel irony is that the current water legislation is fairly appropriate when it comes to individuals' water use -- but corporations, once again, get off with paying virtually... more »

Offer Incentives to Companies with employees workign outside 9-5

We can expand highways all day long and it will never be enough. An accident on one side slows down the other side anyway. Expanding highways is an anti-green approach and is terribly costly.

But the real problem has never been a lack of infrastructure rather that we all try to go to and from work at the same time.

My idea is that there would be incentives for each hour your employees work outside of 9-5. IE .50 cents... more »
